Our concept of sustainability
Natural refrigerants clearly differ from synthetic ones in their GWP (Global Warming Potential), which measures their impact on global warming. Each GWP value is calculated for a specific time interval (typically 20, 100 or 500 years).
Natural refrigerants that are commonly used reliably and efficiently in the cold and heat sectors are: CO2, R290 and R600a and NH3.
For years, Mondel has chosen to use only the natural refrigerant R290 with a GWP of 3 for every refrigerated counter produced in its Italian factory.

Sono efficienti dal punto di vista delle prestazioni tecniche ed energetiche?
Sí. Le aziende, in particolare quelle italiane, producono da decenni e continuano ad investire sulla ricerca e sviluppo di queste tecnologie, migliorandone significativamente le prestazioni e l’efficienza energetica al punto da renderle tecnicamente ed economicamente vantaggiose rispetto alle analoghe attrezzature con gas sintetici, come dimostrato nei numerosi casi di studio presentati in conferenze e panel di settore.
Per cosa si possono utilizzare gli idrocarburi (R290, R600, R600a)?
Gli idrocarburi sono refrigeranti naturali ideali per realizzare apparecchiature autonome in refrigerazione, riscaldamento e climatizzazione, secondo gli standard di sicurezza della famiglia ISO/EN 60335. In refrigerazione sono contenuti nei cosiddetti plug-in:
- l’R290: impiegato nei negozi di alimentari/supermercati (vetrine frigorifere) e nel settore Ho.Re.Ca;
- R600a: utilizzato nel settore domestico.
I principali vantaggi dei refrigeranti idrocarburici sono gli stessi della CO2, ed in particolare:
- un GWP praticamente nullo;
- sono puri, con elevatissimi livelli di performance ed efficienza;
- il costo sempre basso e stabile, grazie all’abbondante disponibilità.
Cosa significa refrigeranti naturali?
I refrigeranti naturali sono sostanze già abbondantemente e naturalmente presenti in atmosfera e pertanto prive di potenziali rischi per l’ambiente: il loro utilizzo nell’ambito della refrigerazione, della climatizzazione e del riscaldamento non rischia in alcun modo di compromettere l’equilibrio ambientale.
Cosa è possibile fare con i gas naturali?
I refrigeranti naturali permettono di realizzare qualsiasi attrezzatura o impianto di refrigerazione, riscaldamento e climatizzazione in sicurezza.

We have structured the raw material procurement processes and rethought all production processes to improve our manufacturing and behavioral standards in line with the REACH integrated regulation (Regulation (EC) n.1907/2006), the RoHS community regulation (2002/95 /EC) and the regulation for the management of MOCA materials (Regulation (EC) n. 1935/2004 and Regulation (EC) n. 2023/2006 for environmental and consumer protection.
